Staplehurst boss quits due to a "lack of commitment" from his players
STAPLEHURST & Monarchs United begin the search for a new manager, following the shock departure of Dennis Hughes today, writes Stephen McCartney.
Hughes told www.kentishfootball.co.uk his reasons for leaving the Vandanel Kent County League Division One East outfit late this afternoon.
“I have resigned for reasons which involve non commitment, compassion and hard work by some players,” he said.
“The club as a whole has a good base to build with the new facilities being built, but without new blood and 110% commitment from the players, I can only see them as a division one east side.
“I have enjoyed my time with them and hope I have given them a better understanding of the game.
“They are certainly a fitter side than when I first took over and their tactical awareness is much stronger.”
On his future, Mr Hughes, added: “I shall be sending CV’s shortly, with the view of getting straight back in.”
Hughes leaves the club sitting in seventh place in the table, although they’ve played only four games, bagging four points - eleven points behind leaders Canterbury City, who have a 100% record from their five league games.
