Supporters' club chairman predicts better future for Invicta

Wednesday 29th July 2009
CLIVE ARNOLD, the supporters’ club chairman at Folkestone Invicta, has brought “news that we have waited for”, concerning the troubled Ryman League Division One South club, writes Stephen McCartney.

Although the Cheriton Road club are set to issue an official statement once the formalities are concluded, Mr Arnold, posting on the fans’ forum at www.folkestoneinvicta.co.uk  yesterday, brought some positive news concerning the club’s future.

“Following protracted negotiations conducted with HM Revenue and Customs through the club’s appointed advisor, there is high confidence that an arrangement will be agreed within the next few days, which will effectively eliminate the state of indebtedness which has made it so difficult to plan ahead in recent times,” Mr Arnold revealed.

“Nothing is yet finalised,” he added. “But the club’s members and supporters can be reassured that there is now every reasonable expectation of Folkestone Invicta being able to take its place in the Ryman League for the coming season.”

Neil Cugley’s side, however, are expected to start their league campaign with a ten point penalty, although the club will continue its work supporting local and footballers with disabilities.
