Takaloo returns to Maidstone

Wednesday 10th January 2007
Mo Takalobighashi, Maidstone United’s leading goalscorer during their double-winning season, has returned to the club.

The Kent League Golden Boot winner left last September and rejoined former club Ramsgate.

"I’m back and I’ve got a point to prove," he told www.maidstoneunited.co.uk : "A lot of things were said when I left, much of which was taken out of context. I want to reassure everyone at Maidstone United that I’m 100% committed and that any ill-feeling or comments made against the club or its supporters was unfounded.

"The fans are going to see a different Mo Takaloo. I'm injury-free now and chomping at the bit to get back playing for the Stones. I'm going to be working so hard to give something back to the whole club and get Maidstone United as high up the league as possible."

Maidstone United joint manager Alan Walker said: "We are delighted to welcome Mo back to the club. By his own admission his departure was a knee-jerk reaction and one he's regretted.

“He knows what Lloyd (Hume) and myself want and we know a fit Mo Takaloo is absolutely brilliant for Maidstone United. It will give the squad a massive boost, especially as we face two games a week for the rest of the season."

Takaloo was also named The FA Carlsberg Vase’s Top Goalscorer for last season. The 26-year-old scored ten goals in Vase competitions to help take the Stones to the third round.

The former Margate striker clocked up 44 goals overall, which helped the club secure promotion to the Ryman League.

Stones’ chairman Paul Bowden-Brown added: "I had a heart-to-heart with Mo and was reassured by what he said and his commitment to the club and its plans. I want him back here and hope everyone will give him all the encouragement now and in the future."

Meanwhile, Stones home game against Croydon Athletic tonight has been postponed following a 4:50pm pitch inspection made by the match referee.
