Takaloo: We fear no one - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Ramsgate striker Mo Takaloo insists Nationwide Conference South outfit Yeading will have plenty to fear when the west Londoners visit Southwood Stadium on 30 September, writes Stephen McCartney.

The 26-year-old striker scored two stunning goals as the Rams defeated Kingstonian 2-1 last Sunday to set up the second qualifying round clash.

But before Jim Ward’s side contemplate their next FA Cup game, the Thanet side travel to big-spenders Chelmsford City tomorrow and Hendon on Monday night.

Takaloo, with six goals this season (four in Maidstone United colours), was criticised by fans following his departure from the Stones.

But he insisted EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk  : “I always knew I could score goals. It’s just a matter of the right chance coming along and I was going to take them.

“It’s like when you come to a new club there’s always that thing with the first couple of games where you are trying hard to score so badly and it never seems to come but against Kingstonian I just thought “stuff it, I’m not going for goals, I’m just going to relax, play my game, bring people in and if a chance comes, take them.”

Takaloo, revealed he is working hard to improve his fitness. “At the moment I’m trying to build my fitness again because I had a bit of an injury pre-season,” he said.

“The fitness is slowly coming back and any chance of training I want to take and do.

“The games are coming thick and fast but the thing is with Ramsgate is that we’ve got such a good team spirit.

“It doesn’t matter how much the opposition are getting paid, like we showed in the (Westview) Cup against Margate, we can turn anyone over, especially when they come to Southwood - it’s going to be a struggle for anyone.”

However, an excellent team spirit has turned Southwood Stadium, in Prices Avenue, into one of the fortresses in Kent football.

It just makes Tonbridge Angels’ thrilling 3-2 victory at the ground on August Bank Holiday Monday a rare victory for away sides.

Takaloo, a former Margate striker, explained: “All the lads have grown up together and we are all good mates on and off the pitch.

“We hate losing and we just think we are not going to get beat, and we hate conceding goals.

“We’ve got a really good back four who aren’t going to concede and we’ve always got a chance of nicking a goal with us up front.”

And if big-spending Chelmsford City feel they can just turn up and expect all three points at Melbourne Park tomorrow, Takaloo warns: “Every team we play, they’ve all been big spenders and we’ve ended up doing them over.”

But boss Jim Ward, who appointed Richard Langley as his new reserve team manager this week following a short spell at Ashford Town managing their second team, is looking forward “going into the unknown”.

He said: “Two massive clubs again. Chelmsford are one of the money clubs. Hendon, they’re a strong north London club like, so it’s another trip into the unknown.

“Keep telling you we are what we are. We’ll go t both of them with our eyes wide open.

“I’ll find out more about Chelmsford before I play them on Saturday and then I’ll think about Hendon on Monday.”
