It is a month since chairman Paul Bowden-Brown agreed terms with shareholder Oliver Ash for a takeover of the struggling Ryman Premier League club.

Maidstone United general manager Bill Williams, who has been helping to negotiate the agreement, issued a statement, which was published on www.maidstoneunited.co.uk at 8 o’clock this morning.

He  said: “After lengthy discussions and negotiations a meeting has been scheduled for later today to conclude the change of ownership.

“This will herald the start of a new chapter for the club.

“After a nineteen-year tenure Paul Bowden-Brown will step aside.  I would like to thank him on behalf of everyone connected with the club for all that he has done and achieved over those years.”

The Stones, currently bottom of the Ryman Premier League table with only five points out of 30 available, will make a further announcement later today.
