Thamesmead Town boss Keith McMahon unveils Mark Lane as goalkeeper coach

Tuesday 28th December 2010
THAMESMEAD TOWN manager Keith McMahon has unveiled two major additions to both the playing and coaching staff at Bayliss Avenue, writes Stephen McCartney.

McMahon has snapped up defender Nick Davis from Maidstone United and has appointed former Whitstable Town manager Mark Lane as goalkeeping coach.

McMahon told www.thamesmeadtownfc.co.uk: “Nick is a massive signing for us.  I brought him through the youth team ranks at VCD Athletic several season’s ago and since then he has captained both Ramsgate and Maidstone, was full-time at Fisher Athletic and also played for Tonbridge.

“Nick’s arrival will prove pivotal to us in our push during the second half of the season.”

Lane severed his links with Whitstable following their 1-1 home draw against Bognor Regis Town earlier in the month, with the Ryman League Division One South club appointing his coach, Steve Nolan, as caretaker manager whilst the club advertise for a new boss.

McMahon added: “I am equally delighted to bring Mark on board to help on the coaching side, having recently parted company with Whitstable where as manager he came in towards the end of last season and steered them away from the relegation zone.

“He will add a lot to the changing room and is a very good addition to the dug-out.”

McMahon was in the crowd to watch caretaker manager Nolan guide Whitstable to a morale-boosting win over Ramsgate, courtesy of Stuart Vahid’s last-gasp winner on Bank Holiday Monday, as the Oystermen ended a run of thirteen games without a win.

Nolan, meanwhile, has arranged a friendly between Whitstable Town and Kent League side Deal Town at The Belmont on Thursday, 30th December, kicking-off at 7:45pm.

Club spokesman Tony Rouse told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk: “Admission is £2 for all (to cover the cost of the officials).  Please spread the word and get down and support the lads after their great result against Ramsgate ahead of the Ryman League game away to Faversham next Monday, which kicks off at 3pm at Salters Lane.”
