The challenge for the players' now is to be more consistant, says Faversham boss Ray Turner

FAVERSHAM TOWN boss Ray Turner says he is searching for more consistency - as they end the year with a home clash against Hythe Town, writes Stephen McCartney.A brace apiece from Aaron Quain and Adrian Stone secured a morale-boosting 4-0 home win over local-rivals Sittingbourne last night, a result that puts the Lilywhites in ninth place in the Ryman League Division One South table.
Faversham lock horns with their former Kent League rivals Hythe Town, who are smarting from their embarrassing 8-0 defeat to neighbours Folkestone Invicta on Boxing Day.
“I’m not naïve enough to take Hythe for granted,” said Turner.
“They’ve done ever so well under Scott Porter this season and they are in the area we want to be in the table and we’ve got to look to pick up another three points at home.
“It was one of the low points of the season when we lost down there so I want a reaction from my players and we’ll have to deal with their approach to the game.
“The biggest thing at this level is consistency and that’s why the teams at the top are there. They produce performances week-in, week-out and we haven’t done that on a consistent basis, so the challenge for the players is to do that now.”
A crowd of 294 watched last night’s game against Sittingbourne and the club will be looking for a larger attendance on Saturday.
“I like to think that generally, we’ve put on a good show at home, decent performances and I’m hoping that the crowd have seen that against Sittingbourne, start talking about it and bring a few more people up,” said Turner.
“The derbies are nice for the supporters, but it is tough because of the familiarity between the players and the management teams. Every team is up for it and I think that is shown by the inconsistencies of the results this season.
“It can be quite an issue that everyone is chasing the same players, so I’m trying to get outside of that, bringing in Nathan Simpson (from Surrey outfit Merstham), who had a great game last night.”
