The FA to provide funding for new Kent Invicta League

Sunday 15th May 2011
The Football Association is delighted to announce that there will be an inaugural meeting of the Kent Invicta Football League to be held at the offices of Kent County Football Association on Thursday 2 June 2011.

The Football Association have been endeavouring to establish a league in the County of Kent at the Sixth Step of the National League System for a number of years.

Over the past two years the united endeavours of the Kent League and the Kent County League in forming a Steering Committee Chaired by a representative of the FA Leagues Committee has been successful in achieving a new league to fill the void which currently exists between Step 5 and Step 7 of the System.

Sixteen clubs from around the county will form the new league which is to be called the Kent Invicta Football League and the founder members are being given four years in which to achieve the necessary FA grading for Step 6 and, during that period providing they do achieve the appropriate grading they will qualify for promotion to the Kent League at Step 5 and, similarly, if there are clubs in the Kent County League at Step 7 which have the necessary grading they will be promoted to the new League and clubs in the new League will qualify for relegation.

This will mean that progressive clubs will in future have the opportunity to climb the National League System and keep competition at a healthy level in this area in the best interests of Kent football.

It is to be hoped that initial funding will be providing by the FA for the new League and at the inaugural meeting the founder members will be elected and will adopt their own constitution and elect their own management committee.

The Football Association joins with the Kent County Football Association and the members of both the Kent League and the Kent County League in wishing the new venture all success.
