Friday 06th January 2012
Officials of the Kent Invicta League say they are pleased with the impact that the new Step Six division has made.

Administrator John Moules has issued his half-term report, which was published on the League’s official website www.kentinvictaleague.com.

“The inaugural season of the Invicta League has by any standards been a resounding success with the 16 Member Clubs all playing the part in ensuring the league is worthy of its status as a Step 6 League in the FA National League System,” he said.

“The League started with a huge impact at Erith & Dartford Town hosting Phoenix Sports on Friday 19 August in the first ever league fixture in front of 300 spectators, which is still the highest attendance recorded for an Invicta League fixture.

“Over 9,000 people have attended the 148 League matches played up to 2 January 2012 at an average of 63 per match with Ashford United having the top attendance figures of 1,645 for their seven home matches at an average of 206 per match.

“Since the formation of the Invicta League in June 2011 many of the 16 Member Clubs have made significant strides forward in improving their ground facilities to meet the end of year one Criteria targets.

“Woodstock Park lead the way with their new floodlight installation along with seating facilities closely followed by Bly Spartans who installed the seating from Woodstock Park while Bearsted have installed a 100-seated plus stand.

“Lewisham Borough has a new management company taking over the Ladywell Arena and plans to enhance the stadium facilities are well underway for the 2012/2013 season.

“Sutton Athletic is looking to move to a new home in order to install floodlights and other facilities to take the club forward in to 2012/2013 season and beyond.

“Progress is also being made by other Member Clubs as their facilities develop towards the agreed criteria for year one.

“Allan Crick and the Leagues four Ground Grading Officer begin their next round of inspections in January leading to final inspections in April.”

Looking further ahead, Mr Moules added: “Nine Member Clubs have made application for promotion to the Kent League as they all chase the one available place for next season.”

“Applications for Membership by the due date for promotion to the Invicta League have been received from four clubs at Step 7 with another from outside the County League who are all seeking to become
Member Clubs in the League for season 2012/2013.”

Summarising, Mr Moules said:  “The season so far has been a resounding success and places Kent football on the National League map at Step 6.

“The link between Step 5 and Step 7 is now firmly established following progress to the higher levels of football for all clubs based in the county and on its borders.

“The Officers and Management Committee have a clear four year strategy to keep the Kent Invicta League firmly on track to be a leading Step 6 member of the FA National Leagues System.”

Meanwhile, all sixteen Kent Invicta League clubs must be represented at a meeting at Kent County Football Association Headquarters at Invicta House, Cobdown Park, London Road, Ditton, Aylesford, ME20 6DQ on Wednesday 11 January 2012, commencing at 7:45pm.

Mr Moules also confirmed that the League Cup Final will be played at Welling United’s Park View Road ground on Good Friday, 6 April 2012.

He added: “Another coup for the League (is) to be supported by one of the top senior clubs in the county.”
