RAMSGATE boss Tim Dixon says sorry to supporters who watched their Kent Senior Cup (Sponsored by Portablefloodlights.com) exit away to Thamesmead Town on Tuesday night.Ryman League Division One North side Thamesmead Town booked their place in to the semi-finals following their 3-1 win over the Rams, courtesy of goals from Stuart Zanone and Rob Carter (2), with Tom Chapman replying for the Rams.
”The performance was totally unacceptable and nowhere near the levels and standard we expect when representing Ramsgate,” Dixon told www.ramsgate-fc.co.uk.
”I don’t buy into the ‘at least it wasn’t a league match’ philosophy. Having lifted this Cup for Dover I wanted to win it as manager of Ramsgate, so it was important to me to try and get some silverware this season and keep the momentum going that we have built up in the last few weeks.
”This competition gave us a good opportunity to achieve this goal.”
Dixon added: “We all work really hard at the club, especially the coaching staff and believe me we are hurting.
”The only player to come away with any credit was young Shannon Harris who was left exposed on numerous occasions and made some good saves. If it wasn’t for him, it would have been even more embarrassing.”
But Dixon wishes Keith McMahon and his players’ the best of luck when they face the winners of next Wednesday’s Quarter-Final tie between Herne Bay and Charlton Athletic.
”I want to draw a line under that defeat and wish Keith and his team all the very best for the next round, as we now move on to Saturday for our away trip to Eastbourne.”
Ramsgate travel down to the East Sussex coast sitting in eighth-place in the Ryman League Division One South table, with 40 points from 26 games, two points adrift of fifth-placed Sittingbourne.
Eastbourne Town are in 12th-place with 36 points from 26 games.
