There's no reason to suggest that we cannot be as good as anyone, says Folkestone boss Neil Cugley

Friday 17th August 2012
FOLKESTONE INVICTA manager Neil Cugley says he believes his side are going to have another good season.

Invicta were defeated in the Ryman League Division One South play-offs last season to Dulwich Hamlet after finishing in fourth place after 42 league games.

Two goals from Ray Powell, who is now the player assistant manager at Kent League side Erith Town helped Gavin Rose's side to a 2-1 victory at Champion Hill.

Cugley’s side welcome Worthing to Cheriton Road tomorrow and Cugley is looking forward to the season’s opening game.

“They’ve usually got several good players and I’ll be talking to one or two of my contacts down that way to see what I can find out,” Cugley told www.folkestoneinvicta.co.uk.

“But I’m more concerned with the way we play and I firmly believe that we’ve got a good side here now.

“There’s no reason to suggest that we cannot be as good as anyone in this division.”

Cugley, added: “I believe we’re going to have a very good season.”

Experienced Lee Gledhill is back tomorrow, but midfielder Darren Smith is still away, but will be available for the trip to Sittingbourne next Wednesday.

Invicta have made virtually no changes since last season on the playing side and Worthing appear to be in a similar position.

Folkestone Invicta travel to Sittingbourne next Wednesday and striker Mark Lovell, the son of former Sittingbourne boss Steve Lovell, has signed for Blue Square Bet South side Tonbridge Angels following a successful trial at Longmead Stadium.
