There's no weight on our shoulders, says Bromley's Hayden Bird

BROMLEY assistant manager Hayden Bird says Kent rivals Ebbsfleet United will be going all out to become the first side to beat them when the two teams clash at Hayes Lane on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Lillywhites go into their tenth league game of the season sitting proudly at the top of the Blue Square Bet South table with seven wins and two draws from their nine outings and having not tasted the sour taste of defeat during the first two months of the season, the assistant manager is confident they can keep their impressive run of form going.
“I think it will be another really good game of football and I think that‘s what you‘re getting here at Bromley at the moment,” Bird told www.kentishfootball.co.uk on Tuesday night, following their last-gasp 2-1 home win over Bishop’s Stortford, which booked a trip to Chelmsford City in the penultimate qualifying round of the FA Cup on 9 October.
“It’s positive to get good results, but I think there’s some really entertaining games. I think that will be another one. There will be a big crowd against a good side.
“For us, it’s just another three points. Every game’s important and we want to keep the run going for as long as we can.”
Bromley started their campaign with seven straight wins, but have drawn their last two league games against Dartford and St Albans and needed a couple of games to see off Bishop’s Stortford in the FA Cup.
“The longer it goes on, the more respect we’ll get from opponents,” said Bird.
“But of course Bromley will be a major scalp. Everybody will want to be the first team to take (three) points off us.
“I was asked recently is it a weight on our shoulders? It’s something that we’re enjoying, it’s something we believe can keep going and even though we treat all of the opponents with the greatest of respect, we believe Saturday we can win the game.”
