THE ROAD TO WEMBLEY: We've got to start winning at home, says Cugley - EXCLUSIVE

Wednesday 10th October 2007

Folkestone Invicta manager Neil Cugley believes his side has a great chance of progressing into the fourth and final qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.

Invicta went ten games unbeaten following their goal-less draw at AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night, which meant they climbed up to eighth place in the Ryman Premier League table.

And confidence is sky-high ahead of their FA Cup third qualifying round clash against a Hillingdon Borough side that, although unbeaten in seven games, are in the bottom five of the British Gas Business Division One South & West Division table.

But Cugley’s charges had to win away replays at Horsham YMCA and Windsor & Eton in their previous two FA Cup ties, but this time the long-serving boss wants his side to finish off the job at the first attempt.

But if the game does end in a draw at the Buzzlines Stadium on Saturday, Cugley will have no fears, as his side have won six and drawn one of their eight games on their travels - but have only beaten Billericay Town on home soil.

“To be fair, we’ve played not bad teams at home,” he said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk.

“But I think it’s something to put right,” he said of his teams home record. “To be fair, we’ve played more games away than at home (but) it’s something to rectify, to do well at home.”

Cugley, meanwhile, is confident that his players can continue their impressive form and progress to the final qualifying round of the most lucrative competition for non-league football clubs.

He said: “You can’t complain about the draw. We’ve had Hillingdon watched, and the report I’ve got is they’re not a bad side.

“We’re not moaning, we can’t complain. We’ve had two (FA Cup) games at home, we’ve thought we would win and had to go to replay’s, but confidence is high, ten games unbeaten.

“We have to get hold of the game early, something we didn’t do against Windsor at home.”

Cugley, speaking during the half-time interval of his youth side’s match at Ebbsfleet United tonight, revealed that Mark Saunders (knee) will definitely play on Saturday but James Corbett (knee) is rated 50/50.

He added: “We can’t moan, we’ve got a small squad of 15-16 but it’s pleasing we haven’t got no-one else out.”
