Thurrock away was one of our best away performances, reflects Hessenthaler

DOVER ATHLETIC boss Andy Hessenthaler says his side will have to be at their best to complete the double over Thurrock on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Whites came away from Ship Lane back in September with a 2-0 win, courtesy of goals from Adam Birchall and Frannie Collin and the 44-year-old manager admitted he was impressed with his side’s display in Essex that night.
“It was probably one of our best playing performances away from home,” he told www.kentishfootball.co.uk, following his side’s enthralling 3-2 win over Dartford in the FA Carlsberg Trophy last weekend.
Dover Athletic are eight points behind Newport County, who have a game in hand, could lose second place if they lose to Thurrock on Saturday.
The Essex side have two games in hand over Hessenthaler’s men and are only one point behind on 31 points from 16 games.
“They’ve seen our wobble, but we’re still in second place,” added Hessenthaler.
“They can go above us if they get a result, but if we get a result then we’ll be four points from them.
“But they’ve got the two games in hand, but they’ve got to win those games in hand.”
