Sporting Bengal United, the side that finished rock bottom in the Kent League last season with only two wins and five draws from their 32-match campaign, have appointed Jim Hendry as their new manager, writes Stephen McCartney.

Hendry - and coaches Luke Lesporis and Steve Joseph - arrive from the Tigers’ Essex Senior League neighbours Clapton.

“I am really looking forward to competing in the Kent Senior League after experiencing the Ryman League and Essex Senior League,” said an excited Hendry.

“I am also looking forward to working with the Sporting Bengal United players and everybody else associated with the club.”

Meanwhile, the club’s first pre-season training session, takes place at Victoria Park on Saturday, from 11am.

A club statement added: “The BFA (Bangladesh Football Association) would like to welcome Jim and his coaching team to the club and are very pleased to have them on board.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank last year’s manager Sana Miah and his assistant Manik for all their efforts and hard work.”
