Tommy Sampson launches Sudden Exit book

Thursday 23rd January 2014
TOMMY SAMPSON has published a book to highlight his struggle to fight back from the stroke that he suffered back in December 2007.

Sampson, who is the only Kent manager to win The FA Vase, when his Deal Town side beat Chippenham Town 1-0 underneath the iconic Twin Towers at Wembley Stadium in May 2000, suffered the stroke while he was the manager of Redhill.

The 242-page book is called Sudden Exit and it can be purchased online at www.authorhouse.com.

You can follow Sampson through his physical and psychological struggles and share his frustration and anxiety.

“Sudden Exit is an account of one man’s struggle to fight back to some sort of meaningful health after suffering a massive cardio-vascular attack (stroke),” said Sampson.

He added: “Outside of winning at Wembley, writing this book is the greatest achievement of my life.  I have stared death in the face and he blinked first!”

Sampson, 59, was forced to retire from football management in August 2008, but is still involved in the game with Ryman League Division One South side Faversham Town in an advisory capacity.

Last summer, Sampson was afforded an honorary vice-presidency of the Kent Football Association.
