The FA Cup is a different kind of pressure from the league as financially it can help the club if you progress, says Tonbridge Angels boss Steve McKimm

TONBRIDGE ANGELS manager Steve McKimm says he is trying his best to guide the club into The FA Cup Third Qualifying Round tomorrow.

The Angels travel to Suffolk to play Leiston, only seven days after losing 1-0 to the same team after conceding a last-gasp goal from Patrick Brothers on the counter-attack at Longmead Stadium.

As a result, Tonbridge Angels have slipped down to fifth-place in the Ryman Premier League on 20 points from ten games, while Leiston are now top of the tree after beating Brentwood Town 2-0 at home on Wednesday night, sitting six points clear, although having played a game more than McKimm’s men.

McKimm said: “Leiston are defending really well. They scored on a counter attack in injury time and that happens in football when you’re pushing for the win.

“The FA Cup is a different kind of pressure from the league as financially it can help the club if you progress.

“I think it’ll be a good game with two teams trying their best to get into the next round.”
