We have let the fans and board down on numerous occasions this year, admits Tonbridge Angels assistant manager Barry Moore

TONBRIDGE ANGELS assistant manager Barry Moore says he has read the riot act to his underperforming players following their 2-0 midweek defeat at Metropolitan Police.

Steve McKimm saw his side suffer their first midweek defeat of the season which turned out to be their 12^th league defeat and keeps them in eleventh-place in the Bostik Premier table with 41 points and are eight points adrift of the play-off zone with 17 league games left to play.

Tonbridge Angels host bottom-of-the-table Burgess Hill Town to Longmead Stadium tomorrow, a side that are a point adrift of safety and occupy the only relegation berth.

Moore revealed that a team meeting was held at training on Thursday night and wants his side to bounce back against Ian Chapman’s side, who beat Harlow Town 2-0 at home in midweek.

“Our Performance on Tuesday night was something we were extremely disappointed with going in at half-time two goals down and to be honest it should have been three or four easily,” admitted Moore.

“Second half we came out and moved the ball a lot quicker but Metropolitan Police are an organised side and we couldn’t break them down and I don’t remember us getting any shots on target.

“We deserved nothing from the game and the players were told after the game that the performance was nowhere near good enough from them and they had let themselves, staff and more importantly the fans down.

“Looking at tomorrow’s game against Burgess Hill, we have worked hard on Thursday at training on things that we have lacked lately so we are positive going in to the game.

“Ian will be looking to get back-to-back wins for them and his side will be big and work very hard all over the pitch to get them out of the position they are in but they also have lads who can move the ball so I’m sure it is going to be a very tough test.

“We had a team meeting on Thursday and from now until the end of the season we have to produce 90 minute displays instead of a good half or vice versa.

“We know as staff and players we have let the fans and board down on numerous occasions this year and it’s up to us as a group to finish the season on as many points as possible and hopefully we can move up the league but first we need to concentrate on Burgess Hill tomorrow.”
