Tonbridge Angels boss Steve McKimm unwraps striker Joe Taylor from underneath his Christmas tree

TONBRIDGE ANGELS manager Steve McKimm has unwrapped a new striker from underneath his Christmas tree.

The Angels have scored just one goal in their last five league games and McKimm has unwrapped highly-rated striker Joe Taylor, 23.

Tonbridge Angels are in seventeenth-place in the Ryman Premier League on 28 points from 24 games – four points clear of the relegation zone.

“I’m very pleased that Joe has agreed to join us,” McKimm told the club’s website.

“He has scored goals where ever he’s been and I know he will be well suited to our style of play.

“This move will help him to develop his career.”

Last season Taylor scored 25 goals for Sittingbourne in a formidable partnership with Ryan Golding, who has since dropped down to the Pain & Glory Sports Kent Invicta League to play for Bromley-based side Glebe.

Taylor left Sittingbourne in the summer to sign for Conference South side Farnborough before returning to Kent to sign for Folkestone Invicta. He went on to score two goals in four appearances whilst on loan at Ramsgate.

Taylor will make his debut against his first club Margate – at Longmead Stadium on Saturday.

Taylor progressed through the youth, under 21 and reserve teams on the Kent coast before making his senior debut as a seventeen-year-old for Margate back in 2008.
