Top scorer Sinden quits Vickers
“Richard came to the decision that a combination of travelling and work commitments would make it very difficult for him to commit to the club as we will be travelling north of the M25 when he is based in Kent,” manager Paul Foley, whose side travel to Northwood tomorrow, told www.vcd-athletic.co.uk.
“This was always going to be an issue for him but recent work developments made it even tougher so we agreed to hold on to his registration form and not lodge it with the Ryman League.
“I have known Sinds for many years having played with and managed him so it was all done very amicably.
“He was doing all that he could to commit to the club as he had enjoyed his football again with us but he did not want to go into the season without being 100% committed to the cause.
“His 27 goals in 31 starts were a big part in us winning the league and Kent Senior Trophy last season when he could have easily signed for other Kent League clubs for much more money!”
When asked if the striker's departure would affect the club's goal tally, Foley responded: “Sinds had a record of a goal every two games with us and those types of forwards don't grow on trees so yes he will be tough to replace that's for sure,” said Foley.
“However, we have Leroy Huggins who has a slightly better ratio and some exciting lads coming through who will now get their chance in Sam May, Alfie Harris and Uche Ibemere.
“I have high hopes for all three of these forwards and we will get the usual contributions from our midfielders and our set pieces I am sure.”
When asked if the former Maidstone, Ashford, Sittingbourne and Hythe striker had decided on his next club, Foley replied: 'No idea to be honest, he was going to leave it for a few days and see what came about.
“I know he wanted to stay more local and would not be signing for another Ryman North side so I would imagine he will end up signing for a Ryman South or possibly a Kent League side who are pushing for the league.
“Wherever it is I would expect to see him scoring goals again!”
