TIER FOOTBALL: I’ve won the Trophy previously, so it is always a good competition when it gets to the later stages, says Torquay United boss Gary Johnson
TORQUAY UNITED manager Gary Johnson says he is looking forward to a break from the Vanarama National League.
Isthmian League North Division side Aveley host Southern League Premier Division South side Chesham United in The FA Trophy Second Round on Tuesday 15 December, with the winners hosting Torquay United in the next round four days later.
“It’s a break from our league campaign,” Johnson told www.torquayunited.com.
“I’ve won the Trophy previously, so it is always a good competition when it gets to the later stages.
“As long as crowds can come back by the time the final comes around then that’s a fantastic day for any club.
“We have a couple of league games that are very important to us before that date, but rest assured, whichever team Aveley or Chesham gets through, we’ll know all about them and we’ll certainly respect them.”
The Gulls are presently four points clear of Sutton United at the top of the Vanarama National League table.
Johnson takes his side to newly-promoted side King's Lynn Town on Saturday (15:00), before welcoming Dagenham & Redbridge to Plainmoor on 15 December.
