Our result results have seen us get out of trouble, says Tunbridge Wells boss Jason Bourne

TUNBRIDGE WELLS manager Jason Bourne says he fancies his side coming away from Lordswood with points in the bag tomorrow.

Bourne’s side have turned the corner and are now unbeaten in three games in all competitions and have climbed up into the bottom five with 17 points from as many games.

Richard Styles’ Lordswood, meanwhile, go into their home game sitting in eighth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with 28 points from 16 games.

“We face a tough task away to Lordswood, but after recent results we fancy ourselves as a group to take points from anyone on our current form,” said Bourne, whose club are now 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

“After wins against Corinthian, Deal, Hollands & Blair, Croydon and a couple of cup wins before taking a good point against Cray Valley, we believe that we will be a good match up for anyone now with the squad and the team ethic we have.”

Bourne has been given extra funds to bring in players that should see the club start their rise up the table and former Sevenoaks Town winger Harrison Carnegie has been signed from Bostik South East Division side Whyteleafe.

“Harrison Carnegie was added to the squad last week and really is the last piece of what we are looking for this season, with some exceptional players now on show at the Culverden but more impressively to myself and (assistant manager) Andy Boyle there is really hungry lads for success and real leaders across the squad,” said Bourne.

“We won’t get carried away as good and bad form comes with the desire so our job is to make sure we don’t let off and when a bump comes we have the togetherness to jump back up.

“The recent results have seen us get out of trouble and close the gap on the back to within striking distance but the month ahead is a real chance to move into that tight group that can easily take you into the top half and that’s our short-term goal.”

Local rivals Crowborough Athletic are in tenth-place and Tunbridge Wells are nine points adrift of Sean Muggeridge’s men but The Wells do have three games in hand.
