TUNBRIDGE WELLS manager Jason Bourne hopes a new chairman will breath new finances into this team and turn around the struggling clubs fortunes.

The Culverden Stadium outfit finished in the top five in 2015 and have finished in fourteenth-place and fifteenth-place (twice) since then and suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Canterbury City yesterday.

The Wells are second-from-bottom in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division with three points on the board from their opening seven games and have Croydon – who have lost all seven league games - beneath them in the table.

Explaining another slow start to the league season, Bourne, who was captain when Tunbridge Wells reached The FA Vase Final at Wembley Stadium in 2013, said: “Not great! I think we probably don’t deserve a massive amount to be honest with you.

“Danny Powell has only played a few games for us, he’s been away. Stephen Harper has been injured, they’re our two forward players.

“Jake Beecroft has been unavailable. It’s been one of them. We haven’t picked from a settled side.

“Tommy Lawrence has done his medial knee ligaments, he’s normally in my side so we’ve lost four or five in key areas and we haven’t really had the depth to fill the voids.

“We’ve signed Jordan James from Glebe, we’ve signed Kenny Orenuga from Sittingbourne, Colby Wait, who was previously at Sittingbourne and Maidstone, he’s a good young centre-half.

“We don’t want to go mad and sign loads of players because when everyone’s fit you’ve got a different type of headache. It’s just getting that balance right and that’s why we haven’t started well but normally in the league you get the points you deserve and we haven’t deserved them.”

Bourne wants his side to start climbing the table, starting with Saturday’s trip to Aylesford to play K Sports.

Kris Browning’s side are playing at their highest level and are also struggling in the bottom four, having picked up four points from their opening six games.

“A midtable finish in the league and hopefully we’ll have enough to do that,” said Bourne.

“The boys are all working for the cause and they’re all training and working hard and get a settled side and you can finish whether you want really and we need to build that bit of momentum and with people coming back we’ll be strong.”

Tunbridge Wells have new board members at the helm and Bourne hopes he will be given the tools to do the job.

“Scott Bartlett, the current chairman, is doing it with Michael Boyle. He’s a very good businessman. He’s brought other good businessmen on board so hopefully we’ll be a bit more proactive in supplying the club with what it needs.  They’re just good people, good at business, so hopefully we’ll have the tools to improve the club and once we improve the club, I’m sure we’ll improve on the pitch.”
