I've decided to call my time at Tunbridge Wells to an end, says Jason Thompson

TUNBRIDGE WELLS attacker Jason Thompson says he has decided to call it a day due to personal reasons.

Thompson asked for advice from his peers on social media during the past few days as he was “thinking of jacking football to spend more quality time with the kids on a Saturday,”

“After loads of thought over the past few months, I’ve decided to call my time at Tunbridge Wells to an end,” said Thompson.

“I’ve done this solely for personal reasons and have nothing but respect and good things to say about the club.

“I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

“I want to say a huge thank you to all the fans over the past 18 months who have made me feel at home from day one and making match days double special.

“All the players and coaches at the club, thanks for making it so enjoyable and generating a buzz around the place week in week out.

“Lastly, I want to say a big thank you to the gaffer (Richard Styles).  We spoke a fair bit through the season and lockdown, the support he gave throughout, I’m ever grateful for and I wish you every success.”

Meanwhile, Tunbridge Wells have signed centre-half Danny Rumbol from their Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division rivals Sheppey United.

The former Herne Bay man said: “I’d like to thank everyone for the warm welcome I have received.  I’m sure we can all agree that football needs to return as soon as possible but in the safest way.

“I’m very excited to get started back up and hopefully we can have a successful league campaign.”

Former Tunbridge Wells pair Danny Powell and John Sinclair have returned to Crowborough Athletic.
