I’m massively disappointed in our league position and will now go game-by-game looking to improve in every session, paying more attention to the finer detail until we get it right, says Tunbridge Wells boss Jason Bourne
TUNBRIDGE WELLS manager Jason Bourne says he’s feeling massively disappointed with his home-town club’s league position.
The club have been struggling at the wrong end of the table for two seasons now and find themselves in the bottom four in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division with a league playing record of four wins, three draws and 10 defeats.
Tunbridge Wells are only three points clear of Beckenham Town, who are second-from-bottom in the table.
Bourne’s side have lost their last six games and host local rivals Sevenoaks Town at Culverden Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday.
Micky Collins’ side are in sixth-place in the table and are six points adrift of league leaders Ashford United.
“We welcome a very good Sevenoaks Town to the Culverden for what will be an action packed fixture,” said Bourne.
“You could not have hand-picked a tougher Christmas schedule with Ashford, Crowborough and Sevenoaks but equally they all have to be played at some point during the season, so we knew the league table does not lie and would be a good challenge for us against the best three teams in the division.
“Despite our league position, we have plenty of games in hand but obviously I would rather have the points on the board.”
Bourne is searching to add fresh faces to his squad after losing Tom Bryant to league rivals Whitstable Town.
“The squad has lost Tom Bryant to Whitstable last week and wish him all the best. He’s been loyal to me and the club through thick and thin so when Whitstable came in and Tom was interested in a new challenge so we did not stand in his way.
“With Tommy leaving we will look to bring another in but must be of the right character and 100% committed to the club.
“We will have Paul Butler back from a one game suspension and in contention for selection, but we’re still without Perry Spackman, who is serving a three match ban.”
Bourne has challenged his players to bounce back from their defeats to Ashford United (5-0) and Crowborough Athletic (3-0) when Sevenoaks Town come calling on Monday afternoon.
“I’m massively disappointed in our league position and will now go game-by-game looking to improve in every session, paying more attention to the finer detail until we get it right,” said Bourne.
“When things are going well as a player or a manager it’s simple but when you’re inconsistent like 70% of the teams in our league, sometimes you can over think it, changing personnel regularly and not ever fixing the problems.
“We have faith in our players and will make sure we get the best of them through hard work.
“The support at the Culverden yet again will be a good one I’m sure as always,. We’ll leave nothing out there to make sure we pick up the points.”
