Unfortunately as a club we're not in a position to tempt them to stay, admits Whitstable Town boss

WHITSTABLE TOWN manager Peter Nott says he is looking to bring three new players to the club – after admitting he could not negotiate terms to keep a couple of his more influential players.

Striker Lloyd Blackman, 27, left Belmont Road to sign for Ryman League Division One South new boys Hythe Town on Monday night and midfielder Michael Yianni has agreed terms with Faversham Town.

Speaking to the club’s website www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk, Nott said of Blackman’s departure, “Blackie informed me last week that he had received 3 attractive offers from Kent based Ryman League teams and unfortunately as a club we were not in a position to tempt Lloyd to stay.

“It’s a great shame to lose a player of Lloyd’s quality and experience, his work rate was second to none and he also formed an impressive partnership up front with Ian Pulman.”

Reflecting on Yianni’s switch to Faversham, Nott added, “
Yarns spoke to me at the weekend and told me that he had received 2 tempting offers from Kent based Ryman teams and it was genuinely acknowledged by us both that a parting of the ways was inevitable.

“Both players have been upfront and honest with me during their negotiations,  and I am sure you will join me in thanking them for their contribution last season and to wish them both all the best for the future except when they are playing against us!”

The club confirmed today, “Nott has also confirmed that he is currently in discussions with three potential new signings.”
