Versatile Hamilton wants to settle in one place
MARVIN HAMILTON had a dream start at Dover Athletic, winning the title on his debut after just 30 minutes on the pitch, writes Matthew Clements and Justin Allen.
Hamilton, 19, came on as a substitute in Whites' 1-0 victory against Burgess Hill that secured the Ryman South championship and played for just over an hour at Met Police last Saturday.
The attacking utility player was recommended to Dover boss Andy Hessenthaler and was already familiar with some of his new team-mates.
Speaking to www.doverathletic.com, Hamilton said: "It was a good start for me, a great game for me to play in. I did enjoy it, it's good to see the club going places.
"It looks like a progressing club. There's a lot of good young players and some experience in [Alan] Pouton, [John] Keister and Hess. I know Frannie [Collin] and Sam Gore from Gillingham."
Marvin has played in several positions for Gillingham and Folkestone, where he was on loan earlier in the season, but hopes to make one position his own and settle at a club next season.
"It was an experience at Folkestone. I played non-league before I started professional football so I know what it's about. It wasn't the greatest club to be at but it was good for me to get games under my belt because I hadn't played for three months.
"I've played in a few positions. I haven't got one position I've stayed at for a season. I keep chopping and changing so I don't know where my best position is either."
On the subject of where he will be plying his trade next season, Marvin is keeping his options open but is not ruling out a longer spell at SeaFrance Crabble.
He said: "I'm going to go for trials at professional [Football League] clubs but Dover is definitely an option."
Dover Athletic fans can see their team pick up the league trophy after Saturday’s home game against Kent rivals Sittingbourne.
