IN-FORM Kent League side VCD Athletic have pulled off a major transfer coup, writes Stephen McCartney.

Midfielder, Lee Maskell, 19, who has been described as an “exciting young prospect”, by Vickers’ manager Paul Foley, who this week has been named Kent League manager-of-the-month for December.

“Lee is looking forward to helping the side push on for the second half of the season and joins fellow teenagers Kane Rice, Will Roomes and Tom Bradshaw in this young and exciting Vickers squad,” Foley told www.vcd-athletic.co.uk.

“Lee was being pursued by other clubs but decided to join the club, which is another good sign for the future of the club.”

Maskell, a former PASE player at Blue Square Premier outfit Ebbsfleet United, has also had spells playing Ryman League football for Margate and Chatham Town.

Vickers’ assistant manager Dean Frost, meanwhile, has completed his UEFA Part A badge having passed his final assessment in a New Year training session at Oakwood under the watchful eyes of approved assessors.

The 31-year-old is now a fully qualified coach, following a full-sided session utilising the under 18 squad and some first team players in a recent Friday morning session at the club.

“The club congratulates Dean on this impressive achievement that can only be more good news for the future of the club,” added Foley.
