Warrilow: A good quality game to play to bounce back

Monday 12th October 2009
TONBRIDGE ANGELS boss Tommy Warrilow says his confident that his side can snatch all three points away from runaway league leaders Dartford, writes Stephen McCartney.

Looking ahead to the mouth-watering Princes Park showdown on Tuesday night, Warrilow is eager for his side to not to dwell on their FA Cup exit at the weekend.

Blue Square South side Bromley can now look forward to welcoming Blue Square Premier strugglers Ebbsfleet United to Hayes Lane in the final qualifying round on 24th October, but Warrilow wants to become the first side to beat Tony Burman’s side in the league.

The Darts were also defeated by Blue Square South opposition in the FA Cup when Chelmsford City came away from Princes Park with a flattering 4-1 victory to end the Darts 12-match unbeaten run.

And Warrilow, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk on the eve of his 100th game in charge of the Longmead Stadium outfit said, “They lost too at the weekend so I’m sure they will be looking to put it right, but from our point of view as soon as you lose a game I’d rather have a game come up than train and stew on it for a week.

“It’s nice to have a game of that quality come up so quick, so I’m looking forward to it and so should the players.”

Table-topping Dartford are eight points clear of surprise package Hastings United - although the Angels go into the clash in ninth place in the Ryman Premier League table - thirteen points behind Burman’s men.

“Like I said to the boys, these are all the games that you want to play week in week out,” added Warrilow.

“Dartford have started brilliantly and they’ve got a great squad up there so obviously we’re expecting a hard game but on our day we’re a match for anyone.”

Bromley have won their last SEVEN games against the Angels and progressed courtesy of goals from Ryan Hall and Donal O’Sullivan to book their place against relegation threatened Ebbsfleet United in the last qualifying round.

Warrilow, meanwhile, was pleased with his side’s performance.

He said: “Our performance on Saturday was ok. It was the best we’ve played for ninety minutes over a course of a game but unfortunately it’s the result that counts and we didn’t manage to get the equaliser to chase for the winner.”

“I am disappointed to go out  but I wasn’t disappointed with the performance we put in against a Conference South side.

“They’ve nicked a goal in the end where we were trying to get back into it.  We got in some good areas in the first half but we never punished them.

“They got a good finish to go in at half-time 1-0 up and I honestly thought we’d turn it around but it wasn’t to be.”

Warrilow, however, was given some better news concerning injured defender Scott Gooding.

“Scott is going to be at least another month,” he revealed.  “We’ve had some good news that he doesn’t need any surgery, but he’s already been out for three stroke four weeks coming up this week so at least he’s not going to have any surgery.

“Id we can see him progressing around the middle of November time that will be a nice little bonus for us.”
