Warrilow makes his promotion intentions known

TONBRIDGE ANGELS secretary Charlie Cole has tonight unveiled four new signings as the west Kent club bid to bring promotion to the Blue Square South at the end of next season, writes Stephen McCartney.

Boss Tommy Warrilow, who has already retained eleven players from last season’s squad, has signed striker Jamie Cade, who spent one month on loan to the Angels towards the end of last season, from Lewes and three players arrive from Hastings United.

Goalkeeper Lee Worgan is joined by brothers Tim (midfielder) and Ade (striker) Olorunda at Longmead Stadium.

“I am very pleased to announce that after a very busy 24 hours, Tommy Warrilow has completed the signing of four new players,” Mr Cole told www.tonbridgeafc.co.uk/forum.

“Firstly we have signed Jamie Cade from Lewes, who was on loan with us for a month last season.

“Then in very quick succession last evening we completed the signing of Lee Worgan, a goalkeeper, then Tim and Ade Olorunda, all of which have previously been with Hastings United.

“We have been able to sign four quality players for our club and also beaten off the attentions of several Blue Square sides to obtain their signatures.

“These are excellent signings and a clear indication of our intentions to improve our league position next season.

“Lee Worgan is an example of quality of player that we are now trying to sign. He has Football League experience with Wiimbledon, MK Dons, Rushden & Diamonds and Wycombe Wanderers. He also has five under 21 international caps for Wales.

“My personal thanks go to Tommy for all his hard work in making these signings.”

Hastings United are searching for a new manager after former Angels boss Tony Dolby - and Mike Rutherford - recently stepped down at The Pilot Field.

Chislehurst based Dolby cited distance as the main reason for having to part company with the east Sussex club.

Dolby reluctantly confirmed that he will not be returning to take up the role on a full-time basis.

The pair took over in January following the departure of Nigel Kane, and guided the club to Ryman Premier League safety.

Hastings were deep in relegation trouble in early March but a run of six wins in their last nine games led the club to safety.

And chairman Dave Walters told www.hastingsunitedfc.co.uk:  “"When he first accepted the job at the Pilot Field, Tony did so on the basis that neither of us was committed in any way beyond the end of what turned out to be a successful battle against relegation.

“Obviously, after keeping us up, I was keen to secure Tony’s services for next season too, but the long journey from his Chislehurst home was not to his liking, and as was the case with Mike, he has advised me that this was the overwhelming reason for his decision not to continue in the role.

“Whilst this comes as a huge disappointment, I would of course like to thank both Tony and Mike for their considerable efforts in ensuring that Hastings United will remain a Premier Division club next season, and wish them every success in the future."

The Club will now consider its options for a brief period, but will hope to be in a position to appoint Dolby'ssuccessor in the near future.
