Warrilow vows to keep unbeaten run going

Friday 18th September 2009
TONBRIDGE ANGELS boss Tommy Warrilow says his side faces a tough examination from Sutton United tomorrow - as his club bid to extend their unbeaten run to seven competitive games, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Angels’ only defeat was the opening day loss to bogey-side AFC Hornchurch, but Warrilow knows exactly what to expect from Paul Doswell’s side.

His number two, Cliff Cant, watched the first 90 minutes of Sutton’s FA Cup after-extra-time win over Kent side Margate in midweek, and has given his boss feedback ahead of tomorrow’s Longmead Stadium showdown, which should attract a lucrative 500+ crowd.

“We half sort of knew anyway that they’ve changed completely,” Warrilow told www.kentishfootball.co.uk on the eve of the Ryman Premier League clash.

“They were a big side last year, this year they’ve gone with a lot of athleticism and pace.  Obviously they’ve got big Jason (Goodliffe) at the back, with a lot of experience with Macca, Steve McKimm, so they’ve mixed and matched it with a completely different set-up from last year.

“It’s like anything in this league,” he added, “There’s no easy games in it.

“Tomorrow is going to be, I think, against one of the sides that will be up there at the end of the season looking for a promotion place, either via the play-off’s or automatically.”

Warrilow demands a much better performance from his side, having scraped past Metropolitan Police in the FA Cup, courtesy of Lee Minshull’s solitary goal last weekend.

“Obviously we’re looking to try and stay unbeaten (since the Hornchurch game) and go on a little run, but again if we can put a few chances away, to be fair the last home performance wasn’t the best that we’ve played this year but we managed to keep a clean sheet and get a victory out of it.

“We’ll be looking to improve on that performance but hopefully with the same result.”

Warrilow reported that Scott Godding, Gavin Dayes, Kirk Watts and Lewis Hamilton should be fit for tomorrow’s game, having got through last night’s training session unscathed.
