We beleive we can turn it around, says Langton

WHITSTABLE TOWN manager Mark Munday says confidence is high going into the second part of their double-header against fellow strugglers Ashford Town, writes Stephen McCartney.
Two first half goals from captain fantastic, Sam Denly, and a second half strike from Joe Hitchings sealed a comfortable 3-0 win for the Oystermen at Belmont Road at the weekend, which lifted the club out of the Ryman League Division One South drop zone.
Ashford Town put in such a passionless display, captain Danny Lye posted a note of apology on the club’s fans’ forum.
“Saturday’s result was 100% the players fault,” Lye told www.ashfordtownfc.co.uk.
“I was by far the worst player out there and I am sorry for all the supporters that came to watch that poor performance.
“The boys know that there was not enough passion and endeavour to win a game of football. That is something that has to come down to the players, not the management.
“The players will continue to work through this bad patch and show our true qualities by rising up the league.
“Steve (Lovell) is by far one of the best managers I have worked under and I know he will keep working hard to turn this around.”
Munday says his side hold the advantage going into Wednesday night’s “six-pointer”, against an Ashford side that have now gone nine games without any win.
“We go into Wednesday full of confidence but we know it’s going to be another tough game,” Munday told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
“We can’t change our personnel, they can’t change theirs. It’s who wants it the most and who takes their chances and who gets in other people’s faces and wins those personal battles and today it was us.
“Hopefully it will be us again on Wednesday, but we’ve got to turn up with the same attitude, the same will, want and freshness to work hard.
“We’ll be going there as focused as we were for this game and as up for this game as we were for Saturday’s game and hopefully it will be enough to get a positive result.”
Ashford will leapfrog over Whitstable and claw there selves out of the relegation zone at Munday’s men’s expense with a home win on Wednesday night, and assistant manager Hugo Langton says Steve Lovell’s side will bounce back.
“How can we turn it around? Simple! We’ve just got to keep on working, we‘ve got to keep believing” Langton told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
“I don’t think there’s any need to panic and start releasing players because if you look at our team today over half of them are under the age of 20.
“Ok, these aren’t excuses, these lads are young, they want to be here and we’ll work with them and we’ll keep believing in them and we’ll keep working hard.
“There’s a long way to go, no-one’s going to get relegated or no-one’s going to stay up in December, but we know what we’ve got to do and we’ve got to do it.
“We’ve still got five months of the season to go. Anything can happen, all we’ve got to do is keep working hard, keep the players heads up, we’ve got to keep working on stuff and keep believing because if we stop believing now then we might as well pack up and go away.”
Langton added: “But it’s got to come from the changing room as well so we’ll get there!”
