We can put a spanner in the works for other teams, says Ramsgate boss Jim Ward

RAMSGATE boss Jim Ward says he is relishing the game against league leaders Bognor Regis Town at Southwood Stadium tonight, writes Stephen McCartney.

Mid-table Ramsgate are on a good run of form at present, unbeaten in eleven games, but Ward warns the Southwood faithful that his side are playing against an impressive outfit.

“They’re the best team in the league by a mile,” he said.

“They deserve to win the league, but they have to get past us tonight.  They’re the best footballing side, easy, in the league.”

Ward added: “We’re unbeaten in eleven and the last three games we’ve kept clean sheets, but we’ve lost the services of Paul Axon and Aaron Beech tonight, both injured, who are big losses for us.

“But we still go into it confident.  I’m really looking forward to the game because they let you play, Bognor.”

Despite being nine points adrift of the final play-off berth, Ward admits the play-off’s are too far away and he is happy with the sixteen players that he currently has.

“We’ve got five or six of the top teams to play,” he said.  “We have got to beat all of them but it’s very difficult for us.

“We’ve rebuilt now, we feel we’ve got a decent squad and we can put the spanner in the works for other teams, but to be fair, we look forward to big games like this at Southwood and pit our wits and see how far this team that we’ve developed over the last few months have gone."
