We can't be good one week and bad the next - Hume
Wednesday 25th November 2009
MAIDSTONE UNITED joint-manager Lloyd Hume says he wants his players to show their good side to their game when they welcome Canvey Island to Homelands Stadium on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Islanders arrive in Ashford sitting in third place in the Ryman Premier League table with 25 points from 16 games.
The Stones remain in ninth place with 22 points from 16 games, but Hume has been left scratching his head in the past week.
They knocked Blue Square South side Bromley out of the FA Carlsberg Trophy last weekend, only to return to Hayes Lane last night to put in a disappointing performance to lose 1-0 to struggling Cray Wanderers.
“I want a positive reaction, more importantly I want my players to show they’re decent,” Hume told www.kentishfootball.co.uk last night.
“They can’t be so good one week and so poor the next!”
Since being knocked out of the FA Cup by Woking in October, the Stones have lost league matches to Horsham, Kingstonian, Harrow Borough and Cray Wanderers, and Hume added, “”This is no disrespect to the teams we’ve lost, they’re not the better sides in this league.
“I look at them and think they’re games we should have got something out at least.
“We’re dropping points that we shouldn’t drop and I’m disappointed tonight, as you can tell by the tone of my voice!"
