We don't fear anyone, says Dover Athletic boss Nicky Forster

DOVER ATHLETIC boss Nicky Forster says he is expecting another tight game when they lock horns with Chelmsford City again on Tuesday night. The Kent side came away from Essex with a 1-1 draw in the FA Carlsberg Trophy Third Qualifying Round clash, with Dover Athletic’s goal being scored by former Chelmsford winger Ricky Modeste.
Forster told www.doverathletic.com: “It was a good performance and a fair result between two physical teams that are in good form and tried to get the ball down and play good football.”
The Whites played two out and out wingers in a 4-4-2 formation, with Jamie Smith replacing Barry Cogan on the left.
“Jamie has been playing well of late,” explained Forster. “Barry has played every game this season. It was the right thing to do.
Forster was, however, full of praise for his players for their efforts, heightened by some injuries suffered during the game.
He said: “Ricky Modeste has a dead leg and is unlikely to be involved on Tuesday, whilst Dean Rance and Daryl McMahon also suffered knocks, but all the players battled on.
“Dean typified the team display when sprinting back as fast as he could to make a tackle, even though he had been limping beforehand. We were like the walking wounded at the end.”
Looking ahead to Tuesday night’s replay at Crabble, Forster said: “It will be a similar game, a tight game and both teams will go for it as something has to give on the night. We’ll be playing the same way we have recently.
“Our home form this season has not been good and there is no better opportunity to put it right. We are looking forward to it and don’t fear anyone.
Forster confessed he would be happy to see League teams scouting some of his players.
He said: “Myself and (my assistant) Steve Brown have played the professional game and that helps gain a level of respect.
“We really want to encourage the likes of Mitch Walker, Dean Rance and Ben May, who are all looking to get back into full-time football. They are the best players in their positions in the league.”
Meanwhile, the winners of Tuesday night’s replay will travel to either Leiston or Hampton & Richmond Borough on 24 November.
Leiston are third-from-bottom in the Ryman Premier League, which is currently being led by Hampton & Richmond Borough.
