We haven't achieved anything yet, says Bromley boss Mark Goldberg

BROMLEY manager Mark Goldberg says his side have not achieved anything yet – despite being eight points clear at the top of the Skrill South table.

The Ravens maintained their thirteen point lead on third-placed Ebbsfleet United after being held to a goal-less stalemate at Hayes Lane on Boxing Day.

Bromley attracted their largest crowd of the season when 1,344 fans flocked through the turnstiles to watch The Fleet become the first side to take points off Bromley at Hayes Lane.

Second-placed Eastleigh, however, closed the gap after coming away from basement side Dorchester Town with a 2-1 win.

Bromley are back in action tomorrow when they travel down to Brighton to play Whitehawk.

The Hawks are finding life tough in their inaugural Conference South campaign and are in the bottom four with 18 points from 19 games after pulling off a shock 2-0 win at fourth-placed Eastbourne Borough yesterday.

Goldberg said yesterday was a “great day” for the club after picking up a draw against one of their title-chasing rivals, the bumper crowd and Eastbourne Borough and Bishop’s Stortford both losing.

The stats are looking good for Bromley going into the Whitehawk game.

The team have kept seven clean sheets on the bounce in the league – are unbeaten in their last seven competitive games – and in the league they are unbeaten in nine games.

The Bromley boss told his players not to celebrate too much leading up to their trip to Whitehawk.

“We haven’t achieved anything yet. We haven’t even avoided relegation yet,” said Goldberg, whose side have collected 47 points from 20 games, where last season they finished in fifteenth-place on 48 points from 42.

“We have to make sure we prepare well, we get our rest and we treat Saturday as the same focus and determination as yesterday.

“It’s a difficult place to go,” Goldberg said of The Enclosed Ground.

“It’s not a nice pitch, it’s on a hill. The pitch is not going to be conducive to good, flowing football, so it’s going to be a tough test for us.”

Goldberg then takes his side to Stonebridge Road on New Year’s Day to play Ebbsfleet United for a third time this season.

Bromley suffered a 4-1 defeat there in the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round on 16 November and Goldberg admitted his side’s “gung-ho” style of football was their downfall.

“Let’s just take every game as it comes,” said Goldberg.

“We’ll start preparing for that after the game on Saturday but we’re going there with the confidence that we can get another result.”
