We knew we're in a difficult situation, says Dartford boss Tony Burman

DARTFORD manager Tony Burman says he’s preparing for four unforgiving games as he bids to retain the club’s league status.

The Darts suffered ten league defeats on the spin before earning a point in a 1-1 draw away to their Kent rivals Welling United last Friday.

Dartford remain second-from-bottom in the Skrill Premier table with 19 points from 27 games, seven points adrift of safety.

Burman takes his side to tenth-placed Salisbury City – the side that knocked them out of The FA Cup in the First Round back in November – on Saturday.

They then travel to Kidderminster Harriers on 21 January, before playing the top two at home, against Cambridge United (25 January) and league leaders Luton Town (1 February).

“Cheers! Listen, it’s unforgiving and you’ve got to put the same work-rate in (as we did against Welling),” said Burman.

“We’ve been to those clubs and we’ve performed well against them last year and we’ve got to try to do that.

“It’s going to be difficult. We knew we’re in a difficult situation. We’re in a difficult position but at the end of the day you have to work hard and you hope things go for you at the end.”

The Darts were without a midweek match this week and Burman hopes his team will be fit and raring to go ahead of their difficult period.

“We’ll have a couple of training sessions. We’ve got another tough game on Saturday. Hopefully we can build on it (the point at Welling).

“I’m not saying it’s going to get us out of trouble or anything like that but it’s a start for us. It has to happen somewhere.

“I’m pleased with the work-rate that everyone has been putting in. Our supporters have been travelling all over the country and they’ve seen us lose when they think we should have got something.”
