I’m naturally disappointed to be leaving my role as first team manager of Welling Town, says Louis Dean

LOUIS DEAN says he is feeling naturally disappointed after being sacked by Southern Counties East Football League First Division champions Welling Town yesterday.

The Boots axed Dean, who replaced Richard Dimmock in late November 2018 and guided the Thamesmead based club to the title after winning 12 and losing only two of his 17 games in charge of the club.

Owner Kevin Oakes has now parted company with two managers who had guided the club to the top of the table and cited financial issues behind the decision to part company with Dean.

“I’m naturally disappointed to be leaving my role as first team manager of Welling Town,” said Dean.

“The staff, players and I put everything we could into winning the Southern Counties East Football League First Division title and the memories of that successful campaign will be with us for a long time to come.

“I was looking forward to the 2019-20 campaign and had assembled a very competitive squad of talented players after the budget had been agreed.

“I want to make it clear I certainly did not resign!

“I want to thank the players and management team for all of their hard work and dedication in achieving winning the league.

“I am now looking forward to my next challenge in football management.”
