We are looking to get off to a good start in the new season, says Welling Town boss Richard Dimmock
WELLING TOWN boss Richard Dimmock says his side will be fit and raring to go when they kick-off their new campaign.
The Boots celebrated winning promotion after finishing runners-up to Sydenham Sports in the Andreas Carter Joma Kent County League Division Three West last season.
Dimmock has made some headline grabbing summer signings as he bids to guide the club to back-to-back promotions.
Former Meridian VP boss Dimmock has signed goalkeeper Jack Moore and former Erith & Belvedere man Chris Weber.
Moore has been away in America for three seasons and previously to that he was playing for Holmesdale.
Dimmock said: “Jack Moore comes in as he is a very good goalkeeper. He talks well, he’s very good all round and has a very big kick and he will talk well with our new players at the back.
“We conceded too many goals last season so with Jack coming in that will not be as many and he will work Daryl Fishenden for a first team place.”
Dimmock added: “Chris Weber is a good full-back and can also play centre back and centre midfield. He is a very solid player so he will give us something different.
Dimmock and his assistant manager Mike Jones will have the team firing on all cylinders ahead of the new season.
Dimmock said: “We are back on 1 July for pre-season. Mike and I will take pre-season seriously and we are going to be very fit this season and very well drilled as a squad.
“We start with a game on 8 July against a Welling United XI so Mike and I are looking to get off to a good start in the new season.
“We are looking to bring in one central defender and that will be as all done and ready to go.”
Meanwhile, Andreas Carter Joma Kent County League Division One Central & East side Hawkinge Town have appointed Roy Guiver co-manager, alongside the already appointed James Everitt.
