Welling United appoint Jamie Turner and Jake Gallagher as joint-caretaker managers

WELLING UNITED have appointed two players as joint-caretaker managers for their trip to Ebbsfleet United on Saturday.Goalkeeper Jamie Turner and midfielder Jake Gallagher have been given the reigns for The FA Trophy First Round tie at Stonebridge Road.
The Wings begin the search for a new management team after Jamie Day, Barry Ashby and Dean Frost all opted to drop down a division to manage The Fleet, although Day will watch the game on Saturday from the stand as part of the deal agreed by the two Kent clubs.
A club statement revealed that the club will be looking to appoint a permanent manager in time for the club’s next league game, at home to Aldershot Town on Saturday 20 December 2014.
“The recruitment process for a permanent manager is already well underway and any further interested parties are invited to apply by email to wellingutdfcsecretary@hotmail.co.uk by no later than 9am on Monday 15th December 2014.
“We will look to finalise the appointment as soon as is possible albeit ensuring that we get the right candidate.
“We are grateful to Jamie and Jake for stepping up at this important time.”
The Wings are in seventeenth-place in the Vanarama Conference table with seven wins, eight draws and ten defeats and are nine points clear of the relegation zone.
Day will take over the reigns from the Academy manager/club captain Daryl McMahon, who oversaw two wins over Hendon (FA Trophy) and Maidenhead United after the club parted company with boss Steve Brown on 26 November.
Ebbsfleet United lie in fourth-place in the Vanarama Conference South table, after picking up nine wins, five draws and five defeats. They are seven points adrift of league leaders Boreham Wood.
