Welling United quartet put pen to paper

Thursday 12th May 2011
WELLING UNITED player-manager Jamie Day has yesterday completed his first re-signings of the close season.

Skipper Jack Parkinson, defender Antony Acheampong and strike duo Andy Pugh and Luis Cumbers have all put pen to paper on new deals.

Former Tonbridge Angels youngster, Parkinson joined the Wings from then Kent League side VCD Athletic in 2008 and has become a firm fans’ favourite - and  Acheampong joined the club in early part of last season, excelling at the heart of defence.

Pugh and Cumbers arrived at Park View Road last summer following their release from Gillingham and enjoyed their first full season, scoring more than 30 goals between them.

Day told www.wellingunited.com: “I'm delighted that Jack, Anthony, Andy and Luis have signed for next season. They were an integral part of the squad last season and it shows our intent in the summer, with more signings due to be confirmed shortly."

Day added:  "Andy, Luis and Anthony will really benefit from their first full season of playing regular first-team football so I'm looking forward to working with them again."

Day has also agreed terms with a number of other players from last season's squad although the club will only confirm these signings when they have put pen to paper.
