We'll work hard on the bits I'm not happy with, says Erith & Belvedere boss Micky Collins

Wednesday 02nd November 2011
ERITH & BELVEDERE manager Micky Collins says his side hold the advantage going into Saturday’s Macron Kent League Cup Second-Leg tie against Sevenoaks Town, writes Stephen McCartney.

Goals from strikers Rikki Cable and Andy Constable sealed a 2-0 victory over Darren Onslow’s side at Greatness Park last weekend and the two sides meet again at Park View Road for the second leg on Saturday.

“I thought we made hard work of the 2-0 on Saturday and Sevenoaks had a couple of chances and we had several,” said Collins.

“We’ll approach it professionally, we’ll train Thursday night and we’ll work hard again on the bits I’m not happy with and then we’ll approach Sevenoaks as it’s 0-0 and try to progress to the next round.

“I’d rather it be 2-0 then 0-0 because that’s far more awkward.  As the end of the day I’d rather be 2-0 up so I’ll take that all day.”

The Deres, who sealed their progress into the Fourth Round of the London Senior Cup (Sponsored by Coventry Scaffolding) last night with a 3-2 win over Cray Valley (Paper Mills), lie in third place in the Kent Hurlimann Football League table.

Collins said: “Third place in the league, a couple of games in hand, we’re not too bad, we’re doing ok. I’ve got to be happy.

“We’ve played nine games, won seven.  The two games that we’ve lost we were certainly in those games.

“There’s a long way to go.  The squad’s looking stronger.  We’ve got two or three still out, they’re due back in the next two weeks hopefully so once we’re back to full strength we’ll assess how strong we are.”
