We need four wins from our last seven games to secure play-off place, says Wings boss Jamie Day

WELLING UNITED player-manager Jamie Day says four wins from their last seven games should secure a Blue Square Bet South play-off place, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Wings stormed up to third-place in the table following their impressive 2-0 win at fellow play-off contenders Chelmsford City at the weekend, courtesy of goals from Loick Pires and Luis Cumbers.
“I thought we were in control for most of the game,” said Day. “It’s pleasing that we’ve come away with a win and a comfortable win as well.
“Chelmsford have been up there all year. I still think they will be around the play-off’ and challenging for a spot, so I was pleased to go there and say that we were comfortable.
“They had one or two players out, which might have made a bit of a difference, but again I still feel the way the boys’ have been playing, I think we have to keep this run going and try and get as many wins as we can.”
It was just a couple of weeks ago when the Wings came away from Eastleigh with a 4-1 victory, and the two sides lock horns at Park View Road on Tuesday night.
Eastleigh are in eighth place in the table with 60 points from 33 games, just four points adrift of third-placed Welling.
Kent’s team-of-the-year then travel to sixth-placed Woking on Saturday, followed by games against second-placed Farnborough, St Albans City, Thurrock, league leaders Braintree Town and then they finish their league campaign at home to Basingstoke Town.
“We’ve got another three big games coming up and it is tight and I think from second to eighth everyone’s competing for the four (play-off) spaces so we have to try and pick up as many points as possible,” said Day.
“We’ve got a big game tomorrow and Woking on Saturday and we’ve still got Farnborough and Braintree to come as well, so it’s not going to be easy.
“It will be a totally different game against Eastleigh,” Day warned the Park View Road faithful, ahead of tomorrow night’s clash.
“We played reasonably well when we beat them and they’ve had a good result at the weekend beating Woking so they will want to get some revenge what happened at their place and we have to be at it and hopefully put in a performance like we’ve put in the last three games and hopefully it will be enough.”
Speaking about the trip to Woking at the weekend, Day added, “Going away from home, again, it’s going to be a tough game. They’ve been on a good run and they lost at the weekend but they will be looking to put that right.
“It should be a decent game and we’ve got to try and get three points if we can. If not the worse case scenario is to get a point.”
When asked about the points needed to claim a play-off berth, the midfield playmaker replied, “I think 73-75 is possibly going to be enough, I think. We have to try and get four wins out of the seven, which should be enough to do that.
“We just have to try and keep this run going and out of these seven games if we can get four wins that would be great. If not then obviously as many points in those games and see what happens.”
