We're going in the right direction, says Halsey
The Winch’s Field outfit finished runners-up to Faversham Town last season and also clinched the Kent League Cup with a victory over Sevenoaks Town.
And Anthony Deer’s reserve side also enjoyed a successful campaign too – winning the Division One title by finishing seven points clear of Erith & Belvedere and reaching the Kent Floodlight Trophy Final, where they lost to Dartford.
All but one of last season’s first team squad have re-signed for next season – striker Simon King, who netted a hat-trick against Sevenoaks, was the last man to put pen to paper.
The former Whitstable Town assistant manager told www.kentishfootball.co.uk: “I’m pleased to have re-signed all my players and it shows the club is going in the right direction.
“Neil Perkins has a new job working for a Mercedes dealer and this means working Saturday.
“Neil will be missed at the club, not only as a great footballer with great talent but his personality is infectious and is a tremendous person to have in the changing room and at training.
“I would like to wish him all the best for the future and hope to work with him again one day. Saying that, I have invited him back for pre-season.”
Halsey admitted players who impressed in the second string last season will be good enough to step up to the plate next season.
He said: “The reserves have had a great season and this is one of the reasons I have not had to go looking for players as there are players in the reserves who have been with the first team last season and I will be looking for them to prove themselves in pre-season.”
