We're going to give someone a right pasting, warns Margate boss Ashby

Saturday 11th October 2008

JAMES GREGORY became the ninth player to get on the score sheet for Margate this season, when he scored the only goal of the game at in-form Dartford today.

A 16th minute clearance from Dartford goalkeeper Andy Young was poor and was picked up by Gregory, who from just inside the left corner of the box, struck a low drive that flew into the bottom right corner.

This was Margate’s third league win of the season and takes the club into 16th place in the Ryman Premier League table, leapfrogging over Thanet rivals, Ramsgate.

Margate boss, Barry Ashby, speaking to www.margate-fc.com, reflected on a good performance from his side, as his men ended the Darts’ four match unbeaten run.

“We’ve created a hell of a lot of chances again, and we’ve only won 1-0,” he said.

“I think some teams will look and think, oh, they nicked it 1-0. But we haven’t. We should have had another two or three.”

The former Gillingham ace remains confident that more goals will come from his side.

He said: “At some stage, it’s going to come and we’re going to his someone hard and they’re going to get a right pasting.

“But I’m absolutely delighted (with the performance). We are capable of putting in performances in like that and we’ve proved it a number of times this year, we’ve just not replicated that enough.

“I just don’t want to take anything away from the boys because they have been absolutely - from one to eleven - fantastic today. That got everything they deserve.

“Tony Burman has got a very good (Dartford) side and this is a tough place to come, so I’m chuffed.”
