We're more experienced to handle play-off's, says Daish

Liam Daish wants to get their televised defeat at Woking out of their system, by beating York City at Stonebridge Road on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Ebbsfleet United boss saw his side lose to a Matt Pattison strike after twenty minutes at Kingfield Stadium last Thursday, in a game shown live by Setanta Sports.

Defeat in Surrey meant the Fleet remained in eighth place in the Blue Square Premier table, with 32 points from 21 games - just six points adrift of the final play-off place.

“I’m sure everyone would have taken that at the beginning of the season,” Daish told www.kentishfootball.co.uk on their current league position.

“But it’s disappointing, could have been 35 points instead of 32, so you’re always asking for a little bit more all the time.

“But I suppose in retrospect, in hindsight, you would have gone “Yes! That wouldn’t have been bad!”

The Portsmouth-born Boss, however, is still targeting the play-off’s, despite missing out last term.

“We just fallen short last year didn’t we? Hopefully we’ll go that extra step," he said.

“I think the players that I’ve got here now are a year older, they’ve gained a bit of experience.

“The likes of Luke (Moore) and George (Purcell), (Michael) Bostwick, they’re maturing now and they’re maturing together and hopefully what happened last year, will give them a little bit of experience.

“I can see them getting more knowledge of the game, more appreciation of the game and that helps you big time.”

Meanwhile, the Stonebridge Road club are offering a half-season season tickets, an ideal Christmas gift for any die-hard Fleet fan.
