We should be fighting for a play-off place, says Hythe Town boss Tim Dixon

HYTHE TOWN manager Tim Dixon says his side should be fighting for a place-off place next season if he does his job properly.Dixon was unveiled as the club’s new manager on 19 May 2014, replacing Scott Porter, who enjoyed a successful five-year reign at Reachfields Stadium.
The club finished in eighth-place in the Ryman League Division One South table with 73 points from 46 games, missing out on a play-off place by six points in Porter’s last season in charge of the club before he resigned on 6 May.
Dixon has continued his squad rebuilding by strengthening his central defensive positions.
Laurence Harvey has re-signed from their league rivals Whitstable Town, where he has been impressing for the past two and a half seasons since he left Reachfields.
Craig Cloke has also committed his services to the club and will captain the side.
Dixon knows Cloke from their time together at Dover Athletic, where the inspirational defender was a big favourite with fans at Crabble.
“Clokey has signed again and will captain the side and Laurence Harvey along with young Lee Pleau will massively benefit from his experience,” said Dixon.
“Both players were very sought after and I’m very happy to get them on board.”
Dixon, 48, says he will continue to look to bring in new players to the club.
He said: “I am talking to other players at the moment and hope to add to the squad shortly but it must be the right player.
“I don’t ring every player in Kent like some managers, just the ones that our management team feel will fit into the group and we will continue to try and improve the squad from now until the end of pre-season.”
Dixon knows a lot about the Ryman League Division One South after managing Ramsgate up until 22 February 2014.
“If I do my job properly, then I feel we should be fighting for a play-off place although it will be very difficult,” said Dixon.
“I’ve enjoyed my few weeks at Hythe and there are some good people at the club.
“With the decent support we have and help from the local business community, I feel we can all achieve something together.”
