We've got our house in order, admits Ramsgate boss Jim Ward

RAMSGATE boss Jim Ward says his players are enjoying themselves now the pressure has been taken off them, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Rams are unbeaten in their first three games since the turn of the New Year and last night they came away from Champion Hill with an impressive 4-2 victory against Dulwich Hamlet.

Ramsgate climbed into eleventh place in the Ryman League Division One South table on 30 points from 25 games and as they have played the most games than all of their rivals, Richard Langley has promised the players plenty of hard graft on the training ground during their spare midweek dates.

Ninth-placed Walton & Hersham (30 points from 22 games) visit Southwood Stadium on Saturday and Ward said last night: “I want the lads to go into Saturday’s game, we’ve got seven points in the New Year, we’ll see if we can get more on Saturday.

“If we win Saturday, we’ll move up a little bit.”

Ramsgate were back to their best in south London last night and Ward added, “That’s what we’ve been doing.  We had a bad game against Whitstable, we’ve come away from that and the last three games that’s how we’ve played.

“We’ve huffed and puffed and harried, really shut everyone down, made it really horrible for everyone.”

When asked what the Southwood faithful can expect against their Surrey opponents on Saturday, Ward replied, “More of the same!  We’ve been able to keep more of the same 10-11 players on the pitch, which is important, so we’ve got a settled side and working hard and we’re enjoying it.

“We’ve got our house in order, that’s what we care about!  We’ll finish as high as possible in the league table but at the moment we’re enjoying ourselves and we look forward to the next game.  That’s all we’re doing.

“We want to get another three points on Saturday.  The play-off’s are very difficult, but we just hope we can keep on enjoying ourselves.

“We’ve got a great set of lads here and we’re all trying our hardest.”
