We want to improve the league form, says Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley

FOLKESTONE INVICTA boss Neil Cugley says knocking Kingstonian out of The FA Trophy on Saturday will be a bonus.

Folkestone Invicta claimed their first away win in the league last night when Johan Ter Horst, 18, scored his fourth goal of the season at Redhill last night.

The striker latched onto a brilliant 40-yard pass from left-back Chris Elliott, rounded goalkeeper Max Huxter to slot home into the bottom far corner to beat eighth-placed Redhill.

Invicta climbed up to sixteenth-place in the Ryman League Division One South table with fourteen points from 12 games.

Invicta were denied by a brilliant save from former Bromley keeper Huxter, who is currently training with League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge and has a number of League clubs interested in him, when Frankie Chappell’s bullet header was brilliantly tipped around the post earlier in the first half.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s First Qualifying Round tie against Alan Dowson’s K’s, Cugley said: “Of course it is tough, they’re favourites.

“We went to Ebbsfleet (in The FA Cup) and done really well. We’ve got nothing to lose. Let’s enjoy it!

“We want to improve the league form so anything else is a bonus so we can do something against Kingstonian, great.”

The winners of Saturday’s FA Trophy tie will scoop £2,700 in prize money.  Invicta collected £2,500 following their 6-0 home win over Waltham Forest in the last round two weeks ago.

“We haven’t done bad with the finances so far,” said Cugley, who revealed last night that the club will be announcing a new sponsorship deal in the near future.

“We’ve won two rounds in The FA Cup, had the Ebbsfleet money the other day for the gate money on that. We beat Waltham Forest in the Trophy, we’re doing alright.

When asked whether he can guide the club to a run in The FA Trophy, Cugley replied: “We’re Ryman South, we’re never going to get far in it. We’ll get on with the league games really.”

Kingstonian are in fourth-place in the table with 28 points from thirteen games.  They beat Thamesmead Town 4-1 at Kingsmeadow on Sunday afternoon.
