We want to keep the winning mentality going, says Watts
But assistant manager Lew Watts, who himself may play some part in the game, had told www.kentishfootball.co.uk that the Chats wont be taking their opponents, who are struggling near the foot of the Premier Division table lightly.
"It will be a really tough game especially as Cray aren't doing too well at the moment,” said Watts. “We expect them to put out a strong side, but something tells me that they won’t enjoying playing on our pitch - heck we don't enjoy playing on it!"
"What Jenko (Ian Jenkins) and Joe (Francis) have done at Cray is tremendous... They may have had some decent backing, but they've achieved what they have by signing a great mix of youth and experience just when they needed to, and built up a spirit in their side that is the envy of a hell of a lot of teams in this league,"
Watts added: "They have always been a strong side and when you line up against them, you know exactly what sort of game you're going to get regardless of the players that are involved - its Jenko's way!"
After being promoted through the Play-offs so dramatically last season, Cray have found it hard in their debut season in the Premier Division - something that Watts believe will have no influence whatsoever on Tuesday's outcome.
"OK - they were promoted last season, and have had a few problems this, but they still are an experienced outfit, so I think and hope that they'll be OK in the end,” he said.
“We on the other hand are now unbeaten in three despite being bitterly upset at not beating Ashford on Saturday.
“We've now won our last two on the road and come home to a clean sheet which is progress, but that said the five points that we've dropped in the last two home games could have put us right in the mix!"
As most clubs at this stage of the competition the Chatham side is likely to show changes from the one held by Ashford at the weekend.
"O'B (manager Alex O'Brien) and I will talk about it before the game," Watts admitted, "but I'm sure that we'll use the game as a chance to look at some of the fringe players in our squad - that said we want to keep the winning mentality going, and if that means knocking out some old friends then so be it!"
www.kentishfootball.co.uk will be covering this game, with Mike Green reporting.
